BELMONT BLOTTER: Never A Dull Moment

911 received separate calls from two men who claimed to have been robbed around 3:50 this morning. The two callers have different names.

The first call came from the Belmont Red Line station, where a man was reportedly beaten and robbed of his cell phone. Police made contact with the victim, who was treated by Chicago Fire Department ambulance #6.

At nearly the same time, another man gave conflicting information as to his whereabouts. The man said he was at Belmont and Halsted and that he had been robbed of his cell phone by a large group of men who fled westbound on belmont. The victim apparently told dispatchers that he would be waiting by Circuit Nightclub, which is located more than a half-mile north of Belmont and Halsted. Police officers were unable to find this caller.

UPDATE 21 AUGUST 2013: CWB has been unable to conclusively identify case numbers for these incidents, particularly the first one, which is certainly bona fide.  We are aware of a stabbing that took place at Belmont and Sheffield, recorded as happening at 4:39 AM under case #HW398274 as well as a robbery shortly thereafter in the nearby 800 block of Fletcher, which is case #HW398271.
