OVERNIGHT: Phone Jacking, Robbery Attempt, Cops Depleted

A man reported that an unknown male, Hispanic wearing red pants punched him in the face and attempted to take his wallet outside of Caribou Coffee at Cornelia and Halsted around 3 o’clock this morning. CWB cannot locate a police report for this incident.

Around 5:15AM, a man near the Addison Red Line station reported that two offenders took his phone and $20. The offenders were last seen going eastbound on Addison in an older model white 4-door Mercury.  The offenders are described as:

1) male, black, wearing red shirt and jean shorts

2) male, black, wearing a black Spandex body suit

This incident was classified as a theft under case #HW403964

And, yes, for the third morning in a row, the district ran out of available radio cars. The RAP (Radio Assignment Pending) status was in effect from 5:25AM until 6:01AM.

That means that every morning since the Friday’s community march against crime, our neighborhood went copless for varying amounts of time overnight.
