OFF THE RECORD: A Crash That Never Offiically Happened

Here’s a gem. The Tribune reports that Mayor Rahm Emanuel happened upon an accident in which a truck apparently caused three bicyclists to crash in Wicker Park this morning.

Our favorite part of the story?

Two ambulances and a fire engine reported to the scene, but nobody was hurt seriously enough to require hospitalization, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford. The Chicago Police Department had no record of the crash.

Two ambulances, a fire engine, and the mayor’s Chicago Police Department protective detail were there, but the police department has no record of this event. And they want us to believe them when they say that crime is “down.”
