At least three victims were pepper sprayed and robbed in separate incidents early this morning.
The first reported incident took place on Racine, just north of Belmont, a little after 4AM. Two black men and two black females pepper-sprayed the victim and took a purse and at least one

cell phone. The victim, who was just a block from their home when the attack occurred, stated that the male offenders wore hoodies while the female offenders appeared to be dressed up for a night on the town. Officers on-scene stated that the incident will be recorded as a robbery. CPD case number is HW470554.
About 15 minutes later, at 4:26AM, a 23-year-old man was pepper sprayed and robbed by two men and two women at Cornelia and Sheffield. The victim stated that one of the females sprayed him and then took his phone before the group fled eastbound on Cornelia toward Halsted Street. The suspects are described as two black females and two black males with one wearing a white sleeveless t-shirt and the other wearing a white t-shirt. Recorded as a strong arm robbery with a dangerous weapon in CPD case #HW470553.
Then, around 4:50AM, a sergeant who was driving from one of the previous robbery scenes to the other robbery scene was flagged down by citizens in the 1100 block of W. Belmont. The passers-by were helping an Uptown man who had been pepper sprayed and robbed of his wallet. The offenders are only be described as three black males. The victim in this case was reported to be intoxicated and not feeling well. He was given a ride to his home by the sergeant, who said the victim will contact police later to file a report. CWB cannot locate any police report for this case.
