ENCORE: Knife-Wielding Liquor Thief Returns To Walgreens

A man who stole 9 bottles of Jose Cuervo tequila two weeks ago and pulled a knife on the Walgreens employee who tried to stop him returned to the same store and stole more liquor at noontime Friday.

Fortunately, the offender did not pull a knife this time.

After escaping with several bottles of liquor, the thief fled southbound and boarded a #22 Clark bus at Wellington. Police searches of nearby buses were not fruitful.

The offender description from Friday: male, black, in his 50’s, 5’7″ tall, 170 pounds, short gray patchy hair, black jacket, black jeans, black shoulder bag, and a plastic Jewel-Osco shopping bag. The offender is known to police and, of course, Walgreens employees.

The incident is logged as a retail theft in Chicago Police Department case #HW488759.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
