A passer-by reported what he believed to be a robbery in progress on Halsted Street, just south of Belmont, at 10:50 last night.
The caller reported three to four offenders jumping on and trying to rob an apparently intoxicated victim outside of 3159 N. Halsted. The witness said the offenders were black men. One was wearing a red shirt or jacket and another wore a black jacket.
Officers arrived quickly and ran records checks on two individuals. One arrest was made, although the exact nature of the arrest is not clear.
One of the individuals stopped by police in this incident was stopped by police again at 8AM Friday morning. This individual’s address of record is the same as the Howard Brown Youth Center’s former address on North Broadway. He is 25 years old.
