UNSAFE PASSAGE: Victim Robbed Behind Greely School

While a huge
chunk of our 19th district police resources were  babysitting “Safe Passage” routes after
school today, a person was  strong
arm robbed directly behind Horace Greeley Elementary School at Sheridan and
Broadway.
Greely is not included in the city’s “Safe Passage” program and police response to the robbery was limited due to officers’ “Safe Passage” commitments.
The victim, who was attacked at 4:13PM, described the offender as male, black, in his late 30s or early 40s, very short—about 5’2”—skinny, with braids in his hair, wearing a black jacket and dark blue jeans. He was last seen running westbound through the alley behind Greely, toward Fremont Street.
The robbery is documented in Chicago Police Department case #HW504510.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
