22-year-old Christina Laserko is accused of cruelty to animals and failure to perform animal owner duties, police said.
A building engineer who was working to fix a leak on December 23 entered Laserko’s seventh-floor apartment at 505 West Belmont and found what he believed to be two dead dogs in “deplorable conditions,” according to court records and a police source.
Now, police say that Laserko left her apartment in September 2016 and did not return to care for the animals.
Three pets perished from neglect: A pit bull breed named “Vinny” and two cats, “Georgia Moon” and “Champ,” according to court records.
A Chicago Police Department gang and animal crimes investigation team said in court records that Laserko admitted to leaving the animals behind.
