Man Found Inside Burning Donation Box Identified; Authorities Seek Next Of Kin

Brown | Chicago Police Dept

Authorities have identified a body that was found inside of a burning charity donation box in Uptown this month. Now they need help finding the man’s next-of-kin.

The Cook County medical examiner says the body of 60-year-old Lloyd Brown was recovered from inside a donation box outside of a Walgreens at 1500 West Wilson around 7:15 a.m. on December 7.

Firemen found Brown’s body after they forced the box open to attack a smoldering fire inside.

Brown’s last known address was in the 1100 block of West Wilson, according to police records.

Medical examiner workers have failed to find any relatives to claim Brown’s remains, the office said. Anyone who may have information regarding Brown’s family is asked to call Rebeca Perrone at 312.997.4480.

Investigators said that an autopsy following Brown’s death was inconclusive and further tests are being conducted.

Brown’s remains were found inside this charity donation box at 1500 West Wilson. | ABC7Chicago

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
