A woman was sexually assaulted by a man near Oz Park in the Lincoln Park neighborhood early Saturday morning, police said in a community alert tonight.
The victim and another woman were standing in an alley in the 2200 block of North Orchard around 4:30 a.m. when a man approached and shoved both of them to the ground, police said. He then sexually assaulted one of the women.
The other woman was able to fight the man off by kicking him in the face, police said.
The offender is described as a white or Hispanic man in his late 20’s or early 30’s who stands about 5’6” tall, weighs 150 pounds, and has dark hair. He was last seen on a bicycle wearing a white t-shirt and shorts. Police said he may have cuts on his face.
Anyone with information about the incident may contact Area Central detectives at 312-747-8380 regarding case JC-277954.
Police on Friday issued another community alert for the same general area after a DePaul University student was “inappropriately touched” by an unknown man on the street.
Police and DePaul’s public safety office said the woman was walking with a friend around 1:45 a.m. Friday near the corner of Sheffield and Montana, just north of Fullerton, when she was approached from behind by the man who proceeded to touch her. The offender then fled north from the scene, police said.
The offender was described as a man in his mid-20’s who stands about 5’10” tall and has a small build. He has black hair, could be Asian, and was reportedly wearing a gray sweatshirt and black shorts, police said.
Any information about the second incident may be relayed to Area North detectives at 312-744-8261. The case number is JC-276138.
Separate case last weekend
Some local media outlets reported last week that a DePaul University student told police that a man sexually assaulted her in the back of a Lyft vehicle and then proceeded to attack her again in her dorm room around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, May 17th.
CWBChicago has been in touch with police about the case on several occasions, and CPD said the offender was known to them and that the man and woman, both 19, had been out together for the evening before the assaults took place.
No arrest had been made in the case as of mid-week.
