Two men tried to carjack a woman at gunpoint as she loaded groceries into her car at an Old Town grocery store on Wednesday morning, police said. The robbery failed when the victim flagged down a nearby security guard.

The men approached the woman as she placed groceries in her black Audi on the parking lot at Jewel-Osco, 424 West Division, around 9:30 a.m. Surveillance images released by police show the two suspects in the area around the time of the crime.

Police said the man seen without a shirt pulled out a handgun and demanded the woman’s keys. She complied and the two men got into her car. But the pair ran away when the victim got the attention of a shopping plaza security guard.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
