Burglary alert issued for east Lakeview

Detectives have connected three recent residential burglaries in southeast Lakeview to a single suspect, according to a community alert issued Sunday night.

Police said the prowler has entered homes through unlocked windows during daytime hours to steal valuables.

Incidents connected to the offender occurred in the 900 block of West Oakdale at 1:20 p.m. on Sept. 8; in the 700 block of West Oakdale between 9 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 24; and in the 700 block of West Belmont between 8:35 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. on Sept. 24.

According to the alert, the burglar is a black male between 20- and 25-years-old who stands 6-feet tall and has dreadlocks. He wears dark clothing.

Police are encouraging residents to tell their neighbors about the pattern and to ensure that windows and doors are locked.

Just hours after police issued their alert, another burglary was reported early today, Sept. 30, in the 400 block of West Oakdale. That case has not been formally connected to the pattern so far.
