Man shot near Cabrini-Green

A 46-year-old man was shot early Sunday morning in the Near North neighborhood, police said.

The victim was on the 400 block of West Oak when he heard the sound of gunfire come from a passing vehicle shortly before 5 a.m., according to a police department source. The man, struck once in his right shoulder, was driven to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in a private car. He is in serious condition, but he has been stabilized.

Police were unable to find shell casings or other evidence of a shooting at the scene.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
