Two men, both armed with handguns, carjacked a motorist in the heart of Boystown early Saturday, police said. No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.
The 45-year-old driver was sitting in his rental car on the 800 block of West Roscoe when one offender approached on each side of the vehicle around 4:25 a.m., according to a CPD spokesperson.
Both carjackers displayed handguns and ordered the man out of his car. They then sped away westbound on Roscoe with his vehicle, the spokesperson said. The victim sought help at a nearby convenience store.
Stolen was a black 2019 Dodge Challenger bearing a license plate that begins with AK846.
The city’s license plate reader network detected the stolen vehicle traveling in the Garfield Park neighborhood twice on Saturday: once about 30 minutes after the crime and again around 12:40 p.m.
Police offered no descriptions of the offenders. Area North detectives are investigating.
