An argument in the River North neighborhood ended with a man being stabbed repeatedly in the back early Wednesday, police said. No one is in custody.

The 30-year-old victim got into an argument with three men outside the 7-Eleven store at 451 North State around 12:15 a.m., according to police and a witness. As the altercation moved into the street, one of the three men pulled a knife and attacked the victim, the witness said.

An ambulance crew transported the man to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where his condition stabilized. Police said he is “known” to CPD.

Officers on the scene said the offenders are three black males who were last seen running eastbound on Illinois Street. Two are short while the third is about 6-feet tall with dreadlocks and facial hair. One of the men wore a black hoodie with white letters on the front.

Area Central detectives are investigating.

Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
