Woman attacked in robbery attempt near Belmont Red Line

Three women pulled a Lakeview resident to the ground by her hair and then tried to take her property near the Belmont Red Line station Sunday morning, police said.

The victim, 22, was walking on the 3100 block of North Seminary when the women grabbed her from behind by the hair and pulled her to the ground around 10:15 a.m., according to a CPD spokesperson. Police said the offenders tried to take the woman’s bag. They ran away empty-handed after she screamed for help.

Officers searched the area and located all three offenders on the Belmont CTA platform about five minutes later. The victim was able to identify all three offenders, police said. She declined medical attention.
