Update: Charges filed in Old Town armed robbery

A 19-year-old man from the Douglas neighborhood robbed a woman at gunpoint inside an Old Town parking garage on Monday afternoon, police said.

Deshawn Jackson put a gun to the 52-year-old victim’s head as she placed items in her vehicle on the 1200 block of North Wells around 2 p.m., according to police. He and an accomplice then took valuables from the woman and from her vehicle before running from the scene.

Police located Jackson a few minutes later at the Clark-Division Red Line station. Officers said he was carrying a firearm.

Prosecutors charged him with felony armed robbery with a firearm and felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He is due in bond court on Wednesday afternoon.

The second offender remains at large, a police spokesperson said on Tuesday.
