Man fatally shot in Rogers Park home invasion

Update: The Cook County medical examiner’s office listed the victim’s age as 50.

A 55-year-old Rogers Park man is dead after someone kicked down the door of his apartment and shot him in the face early Saturday, police said. No one is in custody.

The victim, identified by a source as Albino Vazquez, was pronounced dead in the apartment at 1619 West Morse.

Vazquez’s girlfriend told police that an unknown man broke through the front door of Vazquez’s third-floor studio apartment and fired shots around 4:30 a.m.

Police offered no further information about the crime.
