Man shot near Western Blue Line station overnight

A 39-year-old man is in good condition after being shot near the Western Blue Line station in Wicker Park this morning. No one is in custody.

People in the area called 911 to report shots fired around 4:25 a.m. Responding police officers found the victim outside an apartment building on the 1800 block of North Milwaukee a few minutes later.

The man told police that he was on the sidewalk when he heard gunfire and realized that he was shot in his lower right leg. He said a silver SUV with four occupants fled the scene northbound on Milwaukee.

An ambulance crew transported the victim to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition stabilized. CPD said in a statement that the victim “is known to police.”

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
