An Irving Park woman fought off a man who sexually assault her after he posed as a delivery driver to gain entry to her home on Sunday evening, according to Chicago police. Investigators released two surveillance images of the suspect on Monday, including one that appears to show the man engaged in a struggle with the victim.
The woman, 29, told police that she was in her apartment on the 4200 block of North Francisco around 8:20 p.m. when she answered the front door for a man who was posing as a delivery driver while holding an Amazon package, according to a CPD community alert and detail provided in a police report.
When the woman allowed the man into her home to complete the delivery, he grabbed the victim, sexually assaulted her, and tried to push her into a bathroom, police records show.
The woman fought back, and the offender ran from the apartment.
Police said the attacker is a 30- to 45-year-old white or Hispanic man who stands about 5’8” tall. The victim said he has bad teeth, black hair, a mustache, and wore red gym shoes.
