Two armed carjackings reported in Wicker Park, police say

Police issued a community alert late last night after two recent armed carjackings in Wicker Park. Investigators typically release community alerts when they believe an individual or group is responsible for a series of crimes.

In the Wicker Park cases, two offenders wearing blue surgical-type masks have approached victims during afternoon and evening hours:

  • At 1:35 p.m. on Jan. 22, the robbers approached a man on the 1300 block of North Wolcott, produced a handgun, and ordered the victim to drop his car keys. The man complied and the offenders fled in his 2004 Nissan Rogue, which has a “Fitness Warehouse” bumper sticker on its back end.
  • At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, two men armed with a gun forced a man from his vehicle as he parked on the 1600 block of West Beach. Taken was a green 2010 Toyota RAV4 bearing a license plate that begins with Q200.

The offenders are described by police as two black males who are about 20-years-old. They stand 5’9” to 6-feet tall and weigh 160 to 170 pounds.

Anyone with information about the crimes can contact Area North investigators at 312-744-8263 regarding pattern P20-N-034.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
