A 21-year-old man is in critical condition after he was shot in the face while riding in a vehicle near the Field Museum early Monday, police said. No arrests have been made.
The victim was in the back seat of a car as it traveled northbound in the 1300 block of South Lake Shore Drive around 12:05 a.m., according to police. As the vehicle neared the Museum Campus, a gray sedan pulled alongside and its occupants began flashing gang signs at the people who were in the victim’s car, police said.
Then, someone in the back seat of the gray car opened fire, striking the victim multiple times in his face. The driver of the victim’s vehicle took him to Rush Hospital for treatment. He was then transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, according to a CPD media release.
Police found four shell casings in the northbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive. Area Central detectives are investigating.
