The shooting of a 23-year-old man in West Town on Saturday evening may be connected to a large party that was taking place nearby, according to a CPD source.

Police said the victim was in an alley on the 1400 block of North Greenview when a man approached him and opened fire around 10:15 p.m. One round struck the victim in the lower part of his left leg. He was transported to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

The gunman ran from the alley and then fled in a red SUV that headed westbound on Blackhawk, then northbound on Ashland, according to a CPD media release.

Neighbors reported that a large party was taking place inside a home that abuts the alley from the 1400 block of North Bosworth. Police were seen interviewing party-goers.

A police evidence technician recovered at least six shell casings and a firearm laser sight from the alley.

No one is in custody. Area North detectives are investigating.
