Video: Inmates attack officers at Cook County Jail

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office tonight released surveillance footage that shows three jail corrections officers being attacked early Tuesday by an inmate who’s awaiting trial for allegedly shooting a Chicago cop.

The inmate is seen punching an officer and then dragging him into a cell. A second inmate takes the officer’s keys and begins opening doors to other cells.

One of the officers is hospitalized in serious condition following the attack, which unfolded as breakfasts were being distributed in a maximum security wing around 3:40 a.m.
