A 17-year-old is in fair condition after he was shot while riding in a car in the Irving Park neighborhood early Saturday, police said.
The teen told police he heard gunfire and felt pain in his arm as he rode on the 2900 block of West Montrose around 3:15 a.m. He said he did not see the shooter and he did not know where the shots came from, according to police.
The driver of the car took the victim to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for treatment.
Area 5 detectives are investigating. The victim has not had previous contact with police, according to preliminary information from CPD.
CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings.
Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets.
