Man fatally shot at South Loop gas station

Update: The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the victim as 33-year-old Junius Thurston.

A gunman fatally shot a Chicago man Thursday night in an apparently targeted attack at a South Loop gas station. No one is in custody.

Two men and a woman stepped out of a black four-door Audi and opened fire on the 33-year-old around 10:20 p.m. as he stood next to his car at the BP station, 1004 South Desplaines, according to police.

He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital.

According to state records, the victim was discharged from parole on April 20 after receiving a three-year sentence for his second firearm violation.

Area 3 detectives are investigating the homicide.
