Man shot while walking in Avondale, police say

Police are investigating a shooting in the Avondale neighborhood after a man showed up at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with a gunshot wound early Wednesday.

The victim, age 21, told police someone shot at him from a black car as he walked in the 3100 block of West Addison around 9:30 p.m. Monday. A bullet grazed the man’s right shin, but he did not seek medical treatment until today.

Police said the man, who does not have a history of contact with CPD, transported himself to the hospital. He was in good condition.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
