Police: Stranger stabs man on street, says “Welcome to Uptown!”

Police are looking for a man who stabbed a stranger on the street after telling the victim, “Welcome to Uptown.”

It happened just after 9:30 p.m. Saturday on the 900 block of West Montrose, according to Chicago police.

The victim, age 27, told police he was walking when the offender stabbed him in the arm with a sharp object and welcomed him to the North Side neighborhood.

An ambulance crew treated the victim at the scene. A police spokesperson said he is in good condition.

The victim described the offender as a Black male between 28- and 33-years-old who stands 5’10” to 6-feet tall. He was wearing silver headphones, a light blue polo shirt, and jeans.

Area Three detectives are investigating.
