A burglary team has broken into at least four homes since July 4 in the Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods, according to a community alert from Chicago police.
The two-man team typically removes or breaks through window screens before prying open or breaking the window to gain entry, police said. One time, the men pretended to be working across the street from a targeted home while they waited for homeowners to leave.
Investigators have linked the burglars to break-ins on the
- 2200 block of West Armitage at 10 a.m. on July 4
- 1700 block of West Wabansia at 5:20 p.m. on July 7
- 1600 block of North Wolcott at 3:05 p.m. on July 11
- 1600 block of West North at 9 p.m. on July 11
According to the alert, the burglars are two slender Black men between the ages of 17- and 25-years-old.
