Man shot in head while driving near Diversey-Clybourn

Update July 13, 9:16 a.m. — The victim, identified as Jovante King, has died, according to the Cook County medical examiner.

A 27-year-old man was critically wounded when someone shot him in the head as he drove near Diversey and Clybourn early Saturday, Chicago police said.

Officers who responded to calls of shots fired in the area found the man in a Chevy Malibu on the 2800 block of North Leavitt. 

Police said the victim was stopped in traffic when a man walked up and shot him in the head shortly after 1 a.m.

An ambulance transported the victim to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his forehead.

No arrests have been made. Area Three detectives are investigating.
