Three men live-streamed their efforts to hammer into an ATM safe while looting in the River North neighborhood early Monday, according to Chicago police.

CPD says the video was filmed as the men tried to compromise the cash machine’s safe at 875 North State, which is the address of Potash supermarket.

Anyone with information about the three men can contact the Area Three looting task force at 312-744-8263 or 630lootingtaskforce@chicagopolice.org or anonymously at CPDtip.com.

Police released an edited version of the video that obscures viewer comments. But we dug up the unaltered version for you. It gives a better view of the men’s physical appearances and clothing.

And, the unedited version includes the viewer comments, which are sometimes priceless.

Speaking of the suspects’ slight frames and seemingly futile efforts to hammer the safe open, one viewer wrote, “boney ass ain’t getting s**t opened.”

Others stated the obvious: “Omg he recording himself,” said one. “Put the camera down while y’all do that,” advised another.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
