Walgreens employee fatally stabbed inside Wicker Park store

Update September 7, 9:15 a.m. — Police last night arrested an 18-year-old man at his Old Town home in connection with the murder. Authorities identified the victim as Olga Maria Calderon.

A 32-year-old woman was fatally stabbed Sunday morning while she worked at Walgreens, 1372 North Milwaukee, in Wicker Park, according to police. No one is in custody.

Co-workers found the woman lying in a pool of blood on the store’s floor with multiple stab wounds around 9:36 a.m., according to police. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The store was not robbed and no merchandise was taken, CPD said.

After reviewing store surveillance video, cops searched the area for a Hispanic or Black male who was wearing an orange or red hoodie with black pants and black gym shoes that have white soles. He was said to be heavier-set, standing about 6-feet tall. The hoodie may have a Chicago Bears logo on the front, but that has not been confirmed.

Area 5 Detectives are investigating.
