A group of three people was robbed at gunpoint by three offenders in Lincoln Park on Saturday evening, police said. The hold-up unfolded just a few minutes before two armed men carjacked an Uber driver nearby.
The victims — a pair of 22-year-old men and a 23-year-old woman — were on a sidewalk in the 2200 block of North Halsted when the robbers walked up and displayed a handgun around 10:39 p.m., according to CPD spokesperson Officer Michael Carroll.
After collecting wallets and phones from each of the victims, the robbers ran northbound.
Carroll said the robbers were Black males between 25- and 30-years-old. Two were about 5’10” tall, 160 pounds, and wore black hoodies. The other is about 6’1” tall, 180 pounds, and wore a black hoodie with a black puffy coat that had red writing on the outside, he said.
Less than 10 minutes later, a 37-year-old Uber driver was carjacked by two men who got into his back seat and put a gun to his head as he waited for a passenger in the 400 block of West Roslyn.
The robbers jumped into the front seat and drove away with his gray 2016 Lexus ES300, Carroll said. They also got away with the victim’s wallet and phone, according to Carroll.
Area Three detectives are investigating the crimes.
