Man shot during possible robbery attempt in Bucktown early Tuesday

A Bucktown man was shot during a possible robbery attempt behind his home early Tuesday, according to Chicago police and a source. The victim is in fair condition, police said, but no arrests have been made.

A gunman shot the 52-year-old man behind the victim’s home in the 1800 block of North Marshfield around 12:14 a.m., according to a CPD statement. The offender reportedly jumped into the victim’s Porsche, but he got back and out fled the scene. A witness reported seeing a red Audi speeding away from the area. One shell casing was found at the scene.

Police said the victim was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his arm.

Perhaps not coincidentally, carjackers took a red 2017 Audi A3 from a woman at gunpoint in Lakeview on Monday evening. And a similar car was used during a robbery on the 2200 block of North Sacramento in Logan Square shortly before the man was shot.

Area Five detectives are investigating the shooting.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
