Approximate locations of the burglaries | Google

Downtown restaurants aren’t seating any customers these days — Thanks, COVID! — but that hasn’t stopped a burglar from visiting a few eateries along the Magnificent Mile.

Area Three detectives have linked three restaurant break-ins to the same offender over the past month. In each case, the man forced his way into a restaurant and took property. Detectives linked three burglaries to the pattern:

  • on the 600 block of North Michigan on the evening of November 12
  • on the 200 block of East Ohio at 11:12 p.m. on November 14
  • on the 500 block of North Michigan on the morning of December 5

According to CPD’s alert, the burglar is a Black male between 50- and 60-years-old who stands 5’8” to 6’2” tall and weighs 180 to 220 pounds.

Anyone with information about the incidents can contact Area Three detectives at 312-744-8263 regarding pattern P20-3-219.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
