Carjacking team mugged woman in parking lot of Goose Island Home Depot, police say

A group of men who hijacked two cars on the Northwest Side over the weekend robbed a woman as she walked on a Home Depot parking lot near Goose Island yesterday, according to Chicago police.

The 64-year-old victim said she was walking on the store’s lot around 12:15 p.m. when the offenders rolled by, and the driver reached out to grab her purse. She was dragged to the ground by the force and suffered bruises and cuts, a CPD report said.

On Sunday, the same men carjacked two vehicles — one in Avondale and the other in Hermosa, police said in a community alert Monday.

They took a white 2018 Chevy SUV at gunpoint in the 3000 block of North Kilbourn around noontime. Then, they hijacked a woman’s black Lincoln MKZ at gunpoint on the 3000 block of North Kedzie around 1:10 p.m.

Police released three suspect descriptions in the community alert:

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
