The crime wave began at 12:02 a.m. on the 400 block of East Erie in Streeterville. That’s when two men got out of a black SUV and demanded a man’s wallet at gunpoint on the sidewalk. The victim complied, and the offenders fled.

Within minutes, other victims reported being robbed in the same area by a similar group of armed men in:

  • the 200 block of East Grand at 12:27 a.m.

An ambulance took the victim, age 39, to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition.

Finally, around 2 a.m., a driver was carjacked by three men on the 200 block of West Washington around 2 a.m. That victim told police the offenders approached him in a parking garage and demanded his wallet, phone, and keys. One of the offenders held his hand under his hoodie as if he had a gun. Then, they drove away with his black Dodge Journey, the man said.
