One of two men who were shot in an Uptown drive-by last week has died from his injuries. The death of Jarid Jefferson Lindsey, 20, was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Lindsey and a 19-year-old man were on the 4500 block of North Sheridan when someone fired shots at them from a car around 5:38 p.m. on July 20. The younger man was shot in the leg, but another bullet struck Lindsey in his head, leaving him in critical condition, police initially said.
He died the next evening, but the medical examiner did not release information about his death until this week.
No arrests have been made in the shooting.
Lindsey, who lived on the 800 block of West Eastwood, seems to have gone down a path that is all too common. He was arrested in Uptown on a felony gun charge in November and left a social media trail dotted with gang-related content and a photo of him posing with over $2,000 cash on the Lakefront Trail.
