A Lawndale man who encountered a highly intoxicated woman on the Magnificent Mile led her to the underbelly of Lower Michigan Avenue and then sexually assaulted her early Friday, prosecutors said. When a Chicago police sergeant interrupted the alleged attack and pulled him off the unconscious victim, 26-year-old Anthony Brown allegedly told the cop he was “just trying to get some p*ssy.”

“I am trying to wrap my head around the fact that you have no background whatsoever to speak of,” Judge Mary Marubio told Brown before ordering him held without bail. Marubio told Brown her no-bail order was the only way she could protect “every single woman walking in the city of Chicago that you would happen to encounter.”

Prosecutors said the victim, a 20-year-old woman, was at North Avenue Beach earlier in the evening and then went to Tavern on Rush with her boyfriend. She left the bar and made her way to Michigan Avenue after getting into an argument with him, according to prosecutors.

Brown allegedly encountered the woman somewhere along the Mag Mile. While the woman could not remember how she crossed paths with Brown, CPD surveillance video shows him putting his arm around her as they walked south at Ohio Street, prosecutors said.

The woman appeared highly intoxicated, and she almost walked into the window of a building as Brown continuously tried to hold on to her, prosecutors said, citing various video recordings. Around 1 a.m., Brown allegedly led the woman down a staircase to Lower Michigan Avenue at Wacker Drive.

There, Brown allegedly wrapped his arms around the woman’s waist and tried to drag her toward a nearby Jeep. They fell, and the woman became trapped, prosecutors said. When a passing car stopped and an occupant asked the woman if she was OK, she said she was and began running toward the Jeep, prosecutors said. The car left the scene.

A short time later, the Jeep’s owner walked down to Lower Michigan and found Brown lying face down on top of the apparently unconscious woman, prosecutors said. She called 911.

A CPD sergeant arrived and allegedly found the victim unconscious on her back with her pants and underwear below her knees. Prosecutors said that Brown’s pants and underwear were down to his ankles, and his hand was moving as if he was pleasuring himself. The sergeant also allegedly saw Brown thrusting his pelvis near the woman’s private area.

“I’m just trying to get some p*ssy,” Brown said as the sergeant lifted him off the woman, according to prosecutors.

The woman reportedly provided “nonsensical” answers to questions when the sergeant awakened her. She later told investigators that she did not feel like she had been sexually penetrated, prosecutors said. A DNA test is pending.

Brown’s public defender said he has lived in Chicago for about a year, and he works for a valet parking company. He has a 3-year-old child.

Prosecutors charged him with aggravated criminal sexual assault and attempt kidnapping by force.
