Another carjacking was reported in Wicker Park on Wednesday evening. Later, an armed man shot a woman in Logan Square during a robbery that netted him a cellphone. No arrests have been made.
The carjacking took place around 6:45 p.m. on the 1900 block of West Potomac. A woman told police that five men all displayed handguns and forced her to get out of her black Nissan Rogue, which has Maryland license plates.
They arrived in a blue or gray SUV driven by an accomplice. According to the victim, the carjackers are five Black men who are tall, skinny, and young.
Then, around 9:47 p.m., an armed man fired a gunshot while robbing a 22-year-old woman as she walked to her vehicle, which was parked behind the Dill Pickle Food Co-Op, 2746 North Milwaukee, according to a CPD statement.
A bullet struck the woman in her left arm. CPD officers applied a tourniquet to reduce her blood loss until the fire department arrived to take her to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. She was listed in good condition.
The robber got away with the woman’s phone, the CPD statement said. Police described the suspect only as a Black male. He reportedly escaped in a dark-colored SUV.
Earlier in the evening, a similar vehicle was used by a gunman who tried to rob a woman of her cellphone on the 2100 block of West Iowa, according to a CPD report.
