The brazen robbery attempt unfolded around 3:35 p.m. at the retailer’s flagship store, 111 North State. A police spokesperson confirmed details of the incident but did not identify the store.

It’s unclear why the man didn’t get any of the store’s jewelry, but witnesses trailed the man as he fled north on Wabash and turned onto Randolph Street. Police investigated reports that he boarded a #147 Outer Drive bus, but they did not find him.

He is White, 5’9″ tall, and about 130 pounds. The CPD spokesperson said he was wearing a black jacket and a maroon or burgundy skull cap.
