Police responded to calls of a person being stabbed at the Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel, 171 West Randolph, around 1 a.m. Officers found the offender and the victim on the 5th floor. Cops arrested the assailant and applied pressure dressings to the victim, according to a CPD report.

In a brief media statement, CPD said the victim was stabbed multiple times in a fight with another man.

The victim and the offender were both “covered head to toe in blood,” one officer reported from the hotel. He said the victim worked for the hotel and was in serious condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Investigators recovered a knife at the scene.

The suspected offender, a 42-year-old man, was also taken to Northwestern for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Sonesta operates four hotels downtown, including the Sonesta ES Suites, 201 East Walton, where an 18-year-old was fatally shot earlier this month.
