An 18-year-old man told police someone shot him inside a Loop hotel room overnight. Chicago cops also responded to at least two other “shots fired” incidents early Sunday on the Near North Side that did not result in injuries.
The injured man walked into Mt. Sinai Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his left foot around 3:15 a.m. He was in fair condition, according to a CPD media statement.
He told police that someone shot him about 30 minutes earlier inside a room at the Hilton Chicago, 720 South Michigan, according to a CPD report. Police did not receive any calls of shots fired at the hotel.
The man is the 15th person shot in the Loop so far this year. There were six shooting victims in the Loop at this point last year and three at this point in 2020. There were also three shooting victims in the Loop for the entire year of 2019.
In other incidents overnight, police responded to shots fired near a nightclub on the 800 block of North Orleans around 4:20 a.m. Witnesses told police that a man exchanged gunfire with someone who was in a black vehicle after an argument.
Cops found shell casings on the southeast corner of Orleans and Chestnut, but no injuries were reported.
Earlier, police responded to a call of shots fired outside a nightclub on the 200 block of West Ontario at 2:20 a.m. Once again, officers found shell casings, but no injuries were reported.
