Police are investigating the robberies of four convenience stores and a fast-food restaurant that occurred in about 45 minutes Wednesday morning on the North Side. A suspect was taken into custody around 10:30 a.m.

The crime spree began around 5:10 a.m. at 7-Eleven, 1404 West Pratt, in Rogers Park. A robber wearing a ski mask entered the store and took money from the register along with tobacco products, mostly cigarettes.

He struck again minutes later at 6801 North Sheridan, another 7-Eleven.

Then he pulled up to the Dunkin’ at 5130 North Broadway. According to a CPD report, he climbed into the drive-thru window and ripped the register out after asking the cashier if they had money.

Shortly before 6 a.m., he entered 7-Eleven at 1532 West Lawrence and acted like he had a gun as he robbed the store.

Finally, he hit the 7-Eleven at 1425 West Montrose.

Around 10:30 a.m., officers found several cash registers in a van and on the 6000 block of South Carpenter and arrested a man nearby, according to CPD radio traffic monitored by @SPOTNEWSonIG.

We will post an update if prosecutors approve charges in the case.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
