Carjackers fired shots and pistol-whipped a man in Uptown on Wednesday evening, Chicago police said, but the crew did not get away with the victim’s vehicle.
The 35-year-old victim was taking items out of his Ford Escape in an alley behind the 5100 block of North Glenwood when two offenders approached him around 10:40 p.m.
One of the men pulled out a gun and pistol-whipped the man while the other offender stepped behind the wheel of the victim’s car, police said.
When the victim fought off the man with the gun and simultaneously tried to pull the man out of his car, a woman walked up and began shooting, police said. Bullets struck the victim’s car door, but no one was shot.
Police said the suspects may have stepped out of a white sedan before the carjacking.
The victim described the two male suspects as Black, and 20- to 25-years-old.
