Chicago — A 31-year-old woman was found fatally shot on a West Loop street on Wednesday evening, Chicago police said. There is very little information about what happened to the woman, identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as Brittany Wooten of Oak Park.

A passerby discovered the woman lying next to a black Pontiac in the 1500 block of West Hubbard around 8:32 p.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene, apparently from a gunshot wound to her head, according to a CPD media statement.

Police did not receive any calls of shots fired in the area, and officers at the scene said there were no witnesses.

Area Three detectives are investigating.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
