Chicago — A man was shot during an argument on a Bucktown sidewalk overnight, Chicago police said.

The 25-year-old victim was in the 1500 block of West North Avenue when someone shot him during a “verbal dispute” around 2:32 a.m., according to a CPD statement. Officers were already in the area, and they radioed “shots fired” as it happened.

Police said the gunman got away. The victim was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition with a gunshot wound to his thigh.

He is the first person shot this year in Bucktown and neighboring Wicker Park. The neighborhoods had one shooting at this point last year and had their first shooting of 2021 on March 21, according to city records.
