Man found beaten to death on roof of West Ridge restaurant

Chicago police are investigating after a man was found beaten to death on the roof of a West Ridge building.

A worker found the man face down on the third-floor roof of a restaurant in the 2300 block of West Devon around 4:40 p.m. Friday, officials said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office determined on Saturday that the man died from multiple injuries he suffered in an assault. His death was ruled a homicide. Officials have not identified the man, nor have they determined his age.

The medical examiner’s office said the man was found at 2345 West Devon, the address of Tahoora Sweets & Bakery.

He is the second murder victim in West Ridge this year. The area also had two murders at this point in 2021 and 2022. Each year from 2015 through 2020 saw one murder as of May 12, according to the city’s Violence Reduction Dashboard.
