CHICAGO — A Chicago woman is charged with robbing three people at gunpoint in Wicker Park and West Town on Thursday morning. Mercedes Jackson, 26, will appear for a bond hearing at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse on Friday afternoon.
Chicago cops arrested Jackson in the 800 block of North Racine after she crashed a Jeep nearby and ran away, according to police records.
Jackson is charged with robbing three men in about an hour.
The crimes began at 9:05 a.m. in the 1700 block of West Crystal. Jackson allegedly displayed a gun, robbed a 44-year-old man of about $25, and sped away in an SUV.
At 9:56 a.m., a woman robbed a 36-year-old restaurant manager of his wallet in the 1800 block of West Chicago Avenue, then sped away in an SUV. CPD says Jackson is the woman.
About 15 minutes later, Jackson allegedly pulled out a gun to rob a 30-year-old man of two iPhones in the 700 block of North Willard.
Chicago police units spotted a Jeep that matched the robber’s getaway car and tried to pull it over around 11 a.m. But the vehicle crashed into a building in the 800 block of North Milwaukee, and the driver ran away.
Police chased the driver and arrested Jackson moments later. She is charged with three counts of armed robbery with a firearm.
