Chicago police looking for man who raped woman as she returned to her Lincoln Park home

Chicago police are hoping someone will help them identify a man wanted for sexually assaulting a woman as she returned to her Lincoln Park home.

CWBChicago first told you about the attack on July 10. Now, CPD has released images of the man taken from CTA surveillance footage.

The 28-year-old woman arrived in the 1900 block of North Sheffield via rideshare around 3:29 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, according to a CPD spokesperson. As she walked up the stairwell to the second floor of her building, a man pushed her from behind, grabbed her by the neck, and sexually assaulted her, police said.

She was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for treatment. Earlier this month, a CPD spokesperson said she was in good condition.

In a media release accompanying the surveillance images, CPD said the man is 5’9″ to 6 feet tall, 160 to 175 pounds, and 25 to 35 years old.

They also asked anyone who lives in the area or may have been in the area between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on July 8 to check for any pictures or videos that may show the suspect.
